âHI everyone, Iâm illustrator, designer and music enthusiast Ilaria Palmieri
You might have seen my name on the latest Paramore merch drop,*and*! Iâm proud to announce another design of mine has been selected, this time an artwork I made back in Feb 2022, and based off âCâest Comme Caâ. Paramore played an album release show in Nashville just a few days before the album came out and Hayley was wearing a custom cowboy outfit made by rosecutclothing, it had irises and roses on it, which if youâve listened to Petals For Armor, makes even more sense and I saw this picture day of with Hayley doing the finger guns and I my hand slipped and ended up drawing all night. I did some edits of mine to the outfit, I added a cowboy hat with Paramore written on it, and the name of the album on the pants. since there was a floral element to it, I drew roots coming out of the fabric on each side of the pants as well to symbolize something greater wanting to see the light.Â
The song, as I interpreted it, is all about healing and how that process can feel kind of abnormal. Weâre so used to the mess that when things slow down and clear up, it makes us feel as if something is definitely up. Paramore said it best, âi hate to admit getting better is boring, but the high cost of chaos, who can afford it?â And those lyrics exactly, together with âi know that regression is rarely rewarded, I still need a certain degree of disorderâ is what ultimately inspired this piece. We canât help but self sabotage ourselves in the name of âfeeling like our old selvesâ and still seek out the messy bits out of nostalgia.â
